Temporary IVF Laboratory Pause — Patient Information Update
Updated: April 18, 2026
We are writing with another update earlier than planned because we now have another meaningful piece of progress to share.
We know this process has been long and difficult, especially for those of you whose treatment plans have been on hold since January. Fertility care already asks a great deal of patients and families and we understand how hard it is to keep waiting when so much feels uncertain. That is why we wanted to share this as soon as we had something real to tell you.
What Has Changed
The additional equipment we ordered to enhance our laboratory’s environmental systems has now cleared customs and is on its way to us. Based on current timing, we expect delivery in roughly the next week. Once it arrives, installation is expected to begin right away and should take about two days.
This is an important step forward.
As we have shared previously, the independent review of our laboratory confirmed that it operates to a high professional standard and did not identify a single definitive cause for the unexpected fertilization outcomes observed in January. At the same time, it supported taking additional steps to further strengthen the environment supporting treatment. We chose to move forward with those enhancements before reopening because we want patients to return under the best possible conditions we can provide.
What Happens Next
Once the equipment is installed, we will begin the next phase of the reopening process: internal validation testing.
This testing is designed to confirm that the laboratory environment is performing exactly as expected under the enhanced systems now in place. Based on our current planning, we expect that phase to take approximately two weeks.
If installation and validation progress as expected, we are now hopeful that full IVF laboratory services could resume in the second half of May.
We want to be careful with that wording: this is not yet a confirmed reopening date. It is the best current timeframe we can responsibly share, and the final timing will still depend on the results of the validation process.
Still, this is the clearest path forward we have been able to share so far, and we know that matters.
What Has Not Changed
There continues to be no indication that patients were exposed to any safety risk. Embryos and genetic material in cryostorage were not affected and remain safely stored.
Our physicians and care team also remain available to speak directly with patients about individual treatment plans and next steps. If you have questions or would like to talk through your situation, please reach out.
Throughout this process, we have tried to make decisions the same way we approach patient care: carefully, responsibly, and with a focus on long-term confidence rather than short-term speed. We know this pause has asked a great deal of our patients. We also know that progress matters, and we are encouraged to now be able to share some.
We will provide another update once the equipment has arrived and installation is underway, or sooner if there is another meaningful milestone to report.
Thank you again for your patience, your trust, and your understanding.
