Temporary IVF Laboratory Pause — Patient Information Update
Updated: March 6, 2026
Fertility treatment requires significant emotional, physical, and financial commitment. We understand how difficult it can be when treatment plans are unexpectedly disrupted.
In mid-January 2026, our clinical team observed unexpected fertilization outcomes during IVF cycles performed on January 15, 16, and 17. While variability can occur in fertility treatment, the results observed during this time were not consistent with our typical laboratory outcomes. At this time, there is no indication that patients were exposed to any safety risk.
Because of this, our physicians and laboratory team made the proactive decision to temporarily pause IVF laboratory services while we conducted a full and immediate laboratory review. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure that every patient receives the best possible treatment under conditions that meet the high standards we set for our program.
Why the lab pause was necessary
When unexpected outcomes occur in an IVF laboratory, it is important to carefully review every possible factor that may influence results. This includes equipment performance, environmental conditions, laboratory procedures and quality control systems.
Our internal review examined each of these areas in detail. While we did not identify a clear explanation for the outcomes observed, we chose to take the additional step of bringing in an independent IVF laboratory expert with experience auditing and designing fertility laboratories. This external review is evaluating all aspects of our systems and processes.
Until this process is complete and we are confident that all conditions meet our high standards, IVF laboratory treatments will remain temporarily paused.
Before services resume, our team will complete additional validation and testing to confirm that all systems are functioning as expected.
Services currently paused
During this review period, the following assisted reproductive services remain paused in our laboratory:
- IVF and ICSI cycles
- Egg freezing (oocyte cryopreservation)
- Donor egg cycles
- Embryo transfers
Support for affected patients
We recognize how difficult this pause may be for patients and families who have been preparing for treatment.
Throughout this period, our physicians have been speaking directly with affected patients to discuss their individual care plans.
Our commitment moving forward
Our entire team remains focused on completing this review thoroughly and carefully so that patients can move forward with confidence when services resume.
Once the external review and validation processes are complete, IVF laboratory services will resume.
We are working as diligently as possible to restore services as soon as possible while remaining committed to transparency throughout this process.
We anticipate our next update will be posted by Monday, March 16, 2026.
We are grateful for the patience and understanding our patients have shown while we complete this important work in service of the best possible outcomes.
